Overview

The Sony Xperia P is a mid-ranged Android smart phone which was announced at the Mobile World Congress in 2012 along with the Sony Xperia U. However, the Sony Xperia P sits above the Xperia U but below its elder brother the Sony Xperia S. The Xperia P looks a lot like the Xperia S except that it’s smaller and lighter as well. Like many of the other smart phones in the Sony Xperia NXT series it has a pretty cool and a strong design language and let’s not forget that the Xperia P moves a bit further with its full aluminum unibody which makes it unique and gives it a brand new modern look.

Hardware 

The device features a 4.0 inch qHD touch screen with the Sony’s White Magic technology. With this new technology the Xperia P provides the brightest display among all the smart phones available in the market. This has been tested and proved; the display had been compared with many other high class smart phones. On the top of the screen there is an ear piece along with a front facing VGA camera. On the left side of the device there is a micro USB port, HDMI port and a Sim card slot hidden under a flap. On the right hand side of the device there is a volume rocker and a dedicated camera button. On the top of the device there is a 3.5mm head jack. On the screen there are 3 capacitive buttons which sit on top of their associate icons. The device has an 8MP camera with an LED flash at the back. The back camera shoots HD videos at 1080p. The Xperia P is than as well as it is only 9.6mm thin. It’s not only thin but it weighs less also by weighing only 120g.

Software

The Sony Xperia P originally came with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread but now its update is available to Android 4.0. The Xperia P features the Timescape user interface. The Timescape UI is pretty impressive as with Timescape widget you can easily view all of your text messages and not only that you can view your call log, excluding all this you can easily view all of your Facebook posts and other posts in twitter and etc. So Timescape makes social networking easy for its users in a way. Like all the other Android smart phones the Xperia P has a notification bar at the top which is pretty useful as you get all of your notifications in one place.
